From Pre-Op to Healing at Home

What to Expect from Your Pet’s Surgery

Before surgery, your pet will receive a full health evaluation, including pre-anesthetic testing to ensure they are ready for the procedure. We’ll take time to explain what the surgery involves, answer your questions, and make sure you feel at ease with the process.

Our surgical team is experienced in a variety of soft tissue procedures, including spays/neuters, laceration repairs, mass excisions, gastrointestinal surgeries (such as gastrostomies and enterotomies), hematoma treatment, splenectomies, and investigative laparotomies. Throughout the operation, your pet is carefully monitored by our trained staff using advanced equipment.

After surgery, we’ll guide you through recovery instructions and provide any medications needed for pain relief and healing. We believe recovery doesn’t end at discharge—it continues with ongoing support from our team to ensure your pet is healing well and returning to their normal, happy self.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What types of surgeries do you perform?

We perform general and elective soft tissue surgeries, including spay/neuter, wound repairs, mass removals, cystotomies, splenectomies, hematoma treatment, and GI procedures like enterotomies and gastrostomies.

While there are always risks with anesthesia, we conduct pre-anesthetic testing and tailor the anesthetic plan to your pet’s age, breed, and health status. We also monitor them closely from start to finish.

We’ll provide written and verbal aftercare instructions, along with any medications your pet may need. Our team is always available to answer questions or address concerns during recovery.

Most surgeries involve sutures and will require an e-collar (cone) to prevent licking or chewing. We’ll go over wound care and let you know when your pet can return to normal activity.

Most pets go home the same day, once they’ve recovered from anesthesia. We’ll keep them for observation and only discharge them when they’re stable and ready for home care.
